When is a root canal treatment necessary?

There are a number of situations in which the dentist decides to perform a root canal treatment. For example with:

  • severe tooth or toothache
  • dying of the nerve by caries (hole)
  • a filling that is too deep at the root canal
  • preparation for a roof prosthesis

Are you suffering from inflamed gums or severe toothache?

You have living tooth tissue around your tooth or molar. Your tooth tissue can become inflamed by plaque / plaque, tartar or bacteria that accumulate around the tooth and molar. This happens with insufficient oral hygiene, but also with diabetes, pregnancy or the use of certain medications and facial products. Because the bacteria affect the gums, pockets are created. The gums then withdraw and die.

The development of pockets gives you more chance of inflamed gums. You notice that because the gums around the tooth or molar are redder than the pink color of your gums.

Two forms of gum disease

You can distinguish gum disease in two forms, namely gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the light form and periodontitis the advanced form of gum disease. Gingivitis can usually be treated by the dental hygienist or prevention assistant. Periodontitis will cause a throbbing pain. In this case the nerve is considerably affected and inflamed and there is a danger of maintaining the tooth. This is called a root canal inflammation. In these situations it is best to contact Dentalzorg immediately.

The costs for crowns and bridging

Of course it is nice if you know in advance what the costs are of a crown or bridge treatment. Just like with a crown, the costs depend on the type of treatment and your dental insurance. The costs for a bridge are generally more expensive because a bridge consists of several teeth. We are happy to help you clarify these costs.

” For more information you can always call us. We are happy to help you identify the costs and what your own contribution might be. Please note, with treatment that falls under ‘periodontology’ you will always have to contact your health insurance company first to be sure that you will be reimbursed. “
