Invisalign uses a series of clear, custom-fitted aligners to gradually shift your teeth into the desired position.

People commonly experience pain in their teeth, jaw, and tongue after getting Invisalign aligners. While mild pain is considered okay, the situation can be alarming when the pain gets severe and starts affecting your daily life. 

Treatment times vary, but on average, it takes 3 to 18 months (about 1 and a half years). Our dentists will provide a more accurate treatment plan.

Some people might have a slight lisp when they first start wearing Invisalign, but this typically goes away as you become accustomed to the aligners after.  

It is recommended to remove your aligners while eating and drinking anything other than water to avoid staining them and maintain oral hygiene.

Clean your aligners with a brush and lukewarm water or use the Invisalign cleaning system. Avoid hot water as it can warp the aligners. 

While this might seem like a lot, the benefits of this commitment are significant. Invisalign is far less noticeable than metal braces, typically requires only a year of treatment, imposes no food or drink restrictions, and makes brushing and flossing easier, reducing the risk of gum disease. 

Invisalign works because of the near-constant pressure. Therefore, it is necessary to wear the aligners during sleep. The manufacturers of Invisalign suggest wearing the braces for 20 to 22 hours each day and only removing them while eating or brushing the teeth. 

With either treatment, more crooked teeth take longer to straighten than minor crookedness. However, certain studies have shown that Invisalign treatment is much faster than braces. On average, Invisalign takes about 6 – 18 months, while metal braces take about 20 – 24 months. 

There is no age limit for Invisalign! We frequently see patients in their 40s, 50s, and even 60s successfully complete an Invisalign treatment. The Invisalign process may take longer in full-grown adults than in children or teens, but it can correct serious dental issues at any age.
